My Grandparents owned a milk bar and tea rooms in Lyttelton, Christchurch and Granddad made delicious raspberry drops and other candy downstairs in the back shed which were placed in big lolly jars and sold in the shop.
As a child I spent many happy visits going down to Lyttelton on the overnight ferry with my mum and siblings to "help" Grandma in the milk bar. I enjoyed her delicious baking and the 4 storey house was always filled with wonderful cooking smells. These happy memories formed the foundation of my love of baking, sweet making, hospitality and
vintage English china which I have enjoyed throughout my life. Over the years my creative skills have been honed through many ventures including being a soft toy designer and maker, an eggshell art business owner and teacher, author and producer of 2 books, International home-stay host plus crafts of many kinds, mainly sewing, knitting, paper crafts, floral art and cake decorating.
I've always had a love of making things beautiful with an eye for detail.
When the opportunity came up to do candy buffets as a business I was so excited as this brought back memories of my Grandparents and that all the skills I had gained over the years could be utilised in this trending addition to celebratory events.
PRETTY & SWEET Candy Buffets was birthed 25th August 2013 and continues to grow and flourish. Vintage HIGH TEA Hire was added the following year. Being an ideas person and used to working with a tight budget my aim is to make each CANDY BUFFET and HIGH TEA I create, fun, fabulous and affordable.
